Who are we looking for?

An exciting opportunity for a Group Relief Chef to work in a recognised hospitality business with a strong focus on quality food!

We are looking for a real foodie with an eye for quality to be our Group Relief Chef. You will work across our group of Inns as part of The House of Daniel Thwaites. You will have the opportunity to be a key part of multiple kitchens and support our Head Chefs in delivering the highest standard of food.

If you are currently a Sous Chef, or possibly a Strong Chef de Partie looking for a varied and exciting role, this is a great opportunity for you.

You could be asked to take responsibility for all aspects of the kitchen including:

  • Assisting in ordering stock management
  • Preparing and serving food to our high standards
  • Controlling waste
  • Supporting development of the junior chefs in the brigades you work in

This is a very practical role, our properties are busy throughout the year so our teams need to be able to cope with high volumes, be able to get food out to customers quickly - but maintain a high quality product. This means our Group Relief Chef needs to have the skills to quickly fit in to a diverse team and deliver each service.

This is an area role that could cover the whole of the country so a full driving license is essential. Your accommodation and travel expenses will be covered but you will need to have your own vehicle. Due to the nature of the role there could be times when it is necessary for you to spend 5 days of the week away from home.

If you have a natural drive for excellence, with the ability to prepare foods to a high standard and possess good interpersonal skills, we'd like to hear from you. Previous experience in this or a similar role is essential.

In return, we are offering the successful candidate a rewarding role with scope for career progression and development.

There’s a competitive salary negotiable dependent on experience as well as all the benefits of working for a growing and well respected company - including 28 days annual leave (rising to 33 days after 5 years), health cash plan, generous employee discounts, life assurance and much more.

The House of Daniel Thwaites is a group of Hotels and Inns spread across the country. We offer warmest hospitality and service in all of properties, each chosen for its character and charm.

Thwaites was established in 1807 and to this day remains a family run Business. We have Hotels, Inns, Pubs and a Brewery and are focused on providing superb hospitality in outstanding properties in great locations –
